Working with engaged couples on a daily basis means I know more than most how emotional and difficult these times are with people having to postpone and delay their wedding.
For many, a wedding is not just the day but the start of plans for the future and the first step in building a life together. Many exciting things to follow. So now it can seem that these things are all on hold. A time of not knowing, a time of limbo. The uncertainty we are all facing means that couples who were counting down the months and weeks are not only facing a few months delay but potentially putting plans on hold for a year which when planning and looking forward to your big day can seem like a very long time.

My advice to any couples with plans for a wedding this summer is to talk to your venues, talk to your chosen suppliers and without rushing to change too much, pencil in with them a potential new date in case you are forced to postpone. Your planner can liaise with all of your chosen suppliers to coordinate these discussions and if you are not working with a planner, reach out to your suppliers if they have not already approached you. As wedding industry specialists we are keen to help you secure potential new dates and help you feel confident and happy with a backup plan.
If you find yourself already in the situation where your 2020 wedding has been postponed and you are feeling disheartened, use this time to really focus on the day that you want, that you will have. Not in an obsessed Bridezilla kind of way, but with a holistic, careful & thoughtful mindset. Often once an engagement has taken place and a date set, the time flies with wedding shows, tastings, meetings and decision making. A whirlwind of Pintrest & pictures, suggestions & samples and before you know it, you are a couple of weeks away. Having the luxury of time in the build up to your big day can be a gift. A gift to enjoy and relax, to feel reassured and confident in the decisions you are making. The difficult times we are facing may have shifted your priorities, using this time can help you focus on what really is important to you both.
However difficult and upsetting the situation is right here and now, you still have control for your day, it will happen and it will be as wonderful and as perfect as you have already planned. This will pass and you can do this….. just a little later.
